FLASH, Aaahhhh

No this Flash isn't the saviour of the universe or the saviour of anything for that matter. IN FACT it is the MOST CONFUSING program I've used so far. We went through the basics of how to create a motion path for a symbol in order to animate the object. This alone was difficult enough. To make an arc you had create a certain number of points, pick up the middle point and pull it upwards, but half the time I couldn't even get it to arc it was more like a point. Once I got the hang of this I wanted to make the ball bounce. For this I had to create many key frames. Yes I'll admit once I got it in my head that it worked the same as drawn animation I found it a little easier. BUT I still couldn't make my object bounce properly or ease in and ease out. It was extremely frustrating. I did make my objects bounce in the end but I feel that there's a lack of easing in and easing out and the timing of the whole thing felt like it was completely out of my control.

Despite having said what I've said, I can see the potential benefits of using this program in the animation industry. If I could use the program to any form of degree then I feel that I'd be able to create some good work. But I just don't see myself ever being able to get used to it, which is a shame because I feel that it could be a really useful tool. I may return to Flash to experiment with it in the future but for now i think I'll stick to Photoshop and After effects.
