Pose to Pose: Research

I decided to look back at the Animator's Survival Kit to research pose to pose animation. I found that the book very clearly explained the process of pose to pose and gave me a good insight into how pose to pose works.

I learnt from this research that one of the most important factors about pose to pose is getting the key frames right before putting the in betweens in place. Another thing that needs to seriously be considered is the timing of the whole motion. That is why it is a good idea to have small scale bars at the bottom of the the page to indicate where each frame should roughly be at throughout the animation. This gives a clear indicator of the spacing and timing of the movement in order to achieve a good smooth flowing animation.

Overall, pose to pose is all about planning out the key frames and fitting the rest of the frames in between these frames in order to create movement.
